An online community, offering inspiration, support and a non-judgemental listening ear, a place where you can find valuable information that’s both practical and constructive.
What are our Zoom with Ann sessions?
Two of our trained support volunteers, Ann and Jay, host a welcoming weekly evening session on Zoom, designed for anyone affected by cancer. Whether you’re living with cancer, supporting a loved one or navigating grief after loss. These sessions offer a gentle, safe space to check in with others who truly understand the emotional impact cancer can have on every aspect of life.
We often describe this as guided peer support, a space where lived experience meets compassionate guidance. Ann and Jay gently facilitate the conversation, ensuring everyone feels heard if they want to be, respected and included. There’s no pressure to speak if you’d rather just listen and every story, emotion and question is met without judgement.
This growing online community offers inspiration, shared wisdom and the comfort of connection. Many people tell us that before joining, they felt isolated in their experience but that changed once they found others who simply ‘got it’. We often talk about the benefits of simply talking and the truth in the old proverb about a problem shared. Whether you’re facing uncertainty, looking for practical advice or just need to talk things through with someone who understands, you’ll find a warm welcome here.
At Wessex Cancer Support, we believe no one should have to face cancer alone. This weekly group is just one of the ways we help ensure that, whatever you’re going through, there’s someone by your side.
How to refer
If you are new to Wessex Cancer Support and have not already had a wellbeing assessment with one of our friendly team, we ask that you contact us to make a referral for an appointment. Our team will provide you with further information and availability of any activities you both decide on. As a new client, we’ll add you to our email newsletter list so you can keep an eye on forthcoming activities, too.
Alternatively, you can email careteam@wessexcancer.org.uk to book your initial chat or drop into your local cancer support centre in person.
What to expect?Â
It’s normal to feel nervous about attending a group like this, which we completely understand. You are very welcome to join without sharing anything about yourself until you are comfortable to do so. Ann and Jay will make you feel very welcome.
Donate to support a
Zoom with Ann session
Your donation helps make services like our Zoom sessions possible. Helping to promote mental wellbeing and provide supportive guidance, our Zoom with Ann sessions, provide a safe space for clients to discuss and explore their concerns in at a time and place that’s right for them. £20 could help support the costs of a meditation session for a client, giving them the support they need at a difficult time in their lives.
Zoom with Ann sessions are generously funded by people who donate, fundraise, and shop with us. Every penny you donate makes a huge difference. From everyone at Wessex Cancer Support, thank you.
