We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our fundraising team at local community events held throughout the year. By giving just a couple of hours of your time you’ll help us spread the word about our work and support people affected by cancer in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.Â

What the Fundraising Volunteer role involves
−As a Fundraising Volunteer for Wessex Cancer Support, you’ll play an important role in raising awareness of our work within your local community. Opportunities include manning stalls at fetes, supporting bucket collections, engaging with potential volunteers at community events, helping with ticket sales at concerts and other fundraising activities. Helping to raise awareness of the work Wessex Cancer Support does and raising vital funds. With this flexible role, you can work it around other commitments and just let your volunteer manager know what events you can attend.Â
We're looking for volunteers who are
+- Aged over 18Â Â
- Have a friendly and approachable manner.Â
- Able to travel, either by own car or public transport. Events will be at a variety of locations.Â
- Happy to chat to members of the public about Wessex Cancer Support (full training given).Â
- Able to stand for periods of time, as there will not always be the opportunity to sit down at busy events.Â
What you’ll receive
+- A WCS lanyard and ID badge to wear when representing the charity.Â
- A dedicated WCS volunteer manager as your point of contact and to support you.Â
- To have lots of fun meeting new people and socialising at a range of events.Â
- Invite to an induction event.Â
- All training required.Â
Wessex Cancer Support runs a range of exciting events throughout the year. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers who love meeting new people and working as part of a team to support these events. Helping with everything from event setup and registration to marshalling, medal presentation, and pack-down at the end of the day.

What the Events Volunteer role involves
−As a Wessex Cancer Support Events Volunteer, you’ll play an important role in helping deliver a range of successful fundraising events throughout the year. Events include The Big Quiz, Drive-In Cinema, Swim for Hope, and many others. Your Volunteer Manager will send details of upcoming opportunities, allowing you to choose when and where you’d like to get involved. Events take place at a variety of times and locations, so there is always plenty of choice when it comes to supporting.Â
We’re looking for volunteers who are
+- Aged 18 and aboveÂ
- Able to travel either by car or public transport. Events will be at a variety of locations.Â
- Physically fit enough to help with tasks such as putting up gazebos, carrying tables and boxes, handing out medals, marshalling car parks and much more. This role often requires standing for periods at a time.Â
- Happy working as part of a team. Â

Can you use your community contacts to support Wessex Cancer Support as a Collection Tin Coordinator?
This fully flexible volunteer role involves placing and maintaining donation tins with local businesses and organisations. Fitting easily around your lifestyle, it allows you to volunteer at a time that suits your commitments and other responsibilities.Â

What the Collection Tin Coordinator role involves
−As a Collection Tin Coordinator for Wessex Cancer Support, you’ll act as a local ambassador for the charity within your community. You’ll help identify and approach local businesses and organisations to host our collection tins, building valuable relationships along the way. You’ll also check on the tins every few months and, when they’re full, exchange them for empty ones and return the donations to your nearest Wessex Cancer Support centre.Â
We're looking for volunteers who are
+- Can travel to and from their collection tin locations and transport full tins to their nearest WCS centre.Â
- Are organised and able to keep accurate records of locations, donations collected and thank-you communications.Â
- Enjoy talking to people and feel confident approaching local businesses and venues to ask if they would host a collection tin.Â
- Are aged 18 and aboveÂ
- Have a basic knowledge of Excel (is a benefit, but not essential).Â
