When you’re feeling low or a bit lost, it can be hard to know where to start. You want that heavy feeling to lift, but sometimes it’s not as simple as snapping out of it. The truth is that emotional wellbeing often improves with small, consistent actions. Gentle, nurturing activities can bring moments of calm, comfort and even joy, especially on days when things feel overwhelming.

Simple ways to boost your mood

For those living with cancer, it’s only human to experience mood dips from time to time. But there are little things you can do each day to gently support your emotional health. Below you’ll find a list of 20 mood-boosting activities. They’re simple, low-tech and most importantly, achievable from the comfort of your own home.

Try picking one or two things from this list each day, or even a few at different times. Over time, these small moments can add up to a real, positive shift in how you feel.

Sing a song

Loudly and proudly!

Music has the power to lift your spirits so belt out your favourite tune.

Practice penmanship

Slowly write out the alphabet, a favourite quote or anything you feel. It’s calming and creative.

Watch a comedy

Laughter truly is the best medicine, give yourself permission to giggle.

Spend time with your pets

The unconditional love of a pet is a proven mood-booster.
