Staying active is important at every stage of life and if you have been diagnosed with cancer, but it doesn’t have to mean intense workouts or long gym sessions. Simple, mindful movement can bring real benefits to both your physical and emotional wellbeing.
Gentle exercises for wellbeing
Malcolm, who leads Tai Chi classes at our Chandler’s Ford Cancer Support Centre, has created a series of gentle exercise videos for you to follow at home. Whether you’re managing fatigue, recovering from treatment or just looking for a relaxing way to stay active, these sessions are designed with you in mind.
Tai Chi is known for its calming, flowing movements that help improve balance, flexibility and circulation. It’s a great way to gently build strength while also reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm.
In addition to Tai Chi, Malcolm has put together videos focusing on simple standing exercises and seated exercises, perfect for days when your energy levels may be low or if you need exercises that can be done in a chair. These routines aim to help maintain mobility, support joint health and boost confidence in a safe and accessible way. Just take them at your own pace and – most importantly – enjoy them!
If you have any concerns about exercising, please speak to your healthcare team before starting a new activity.
