Our programme of new courses.
We are partnering with Maggie’s Southampton to deliver these two courses, designed to help individuals live well with and beyond cancer. These courses are free and are designed to empower and inspire cancer patients and loved ones by giving you the tools to look after your wellbeing. Each course will run for four weeks and will take place on a Thursday in the morning and in the afternoon. These are the courses Maggie’s Southampton will run for us:
Managing stress
This course will run during the morning from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm and is for anyone impacted by cancer but is not recommended for individuals who are experiencing high levels of distress. The course focuses on how stress impacts us physically and will provide techniques to reflect and how to better manage stress proactively. Find out more here.
Where now?
This course will run during the afternoon from 1:30 – 3:30 pm and is suitable for individuals who have finished their cancer treatment, even if that was a while ago. The course focuses on adjusting to change, fear of reoccurrence and self-care. Find out more.

FAQs
What is the aim of this collaboration?
We want to support our clients to develop tools that will enable them to increase their resilience and feel empowered to manage their own wellbeing.
Are there limited spaces?
Yes, each course has limited spaces, even the online ones, so everyone participating can benefit from the expert content.
Can I attend more than one course?
Yes, you can attend more than one course, however, you cannot attend the same course more than once.
Do I have to attend the course that is nearest to me?
No, if you would prefer to attend the online sessions, or travel to another centre, you are more than welcome to do so.
Do I need to be a current Wessex Cancer Support client to join these courses?
No, you don’t need to be a current client to enrol, but you will need an assessment with one of our Wellbeing Coordinators to ensure your selected course is suitable for where you are in your cancer journey.
What happens if I enrolled in a course but can no longer attend?
We understand that sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances which mean people can no longer commit to something they may have signed up for. If you do need to cancel, please let us know as soon as you can. Please note you will not be able to start one set of courses and then join another set at a later date. This is to ensure as many people as possible can attend.
