This April, a brand-new fundraising challenge is inviting people to do something extraordinary for a local cancer charity: walk barefoot across a 20-foot Ice Walk of shattered glass.
Fire Walks may be familiar. This is different. Certainly colder. Definitely sharper. Perhaps also more confronting. Designed not just to raise funds but to transform the people who take part.
The Ice Walk is about proving that fear is often louder than reality. Participants step onto the glass under expert supervision, guided to stay calm, focused and in control. But what lasts less than 2 minutes can deliver benefits that can last a lifetime, for those who take part and for those who they are supporting.
Kindly hosted by the Bournemouth Marriott Hotel, their pool terrace features stunning views to West Cliff beach and glorious Spring sunsets. It will be the location of this daring new event and see around 50 brave souls challenge themselves to take the Ice Walk. Their reward will be increased mental strength, knowing that you can stay calm under pressure, and a massive confidence boost, forcing all those who complete it to rethink what they belief they are actually capable of. All skills that translate into work, relationships and everyday life.
The April event is open to individuals, teams and corporate groups looking for a challenge that truly stands out. Participants receive full safety briefings, professional guidance and fundraising support — not to mention the certificate of completion and bragging rights afterwards!
And of course there is the enormous pride and emotional reward in knowing that they have endured a few seconds of discomfort to support local people coping with far more than that.
Places are limited, and demand is expected to be high for this bold new challenge.
The Ice Walk is not about recklessness. It is about courage, control and choice – choosing to face fear so others don’t have to face cancer alone. People will be talking about the Ice Walk long after the glass is cleared away.
