Get Festive This December and Make a Difference
Whether it’s bright and sparkly or silly and covered in Christmas crackers, every jumper can help make a difference. Ask your friends, family, colleagues or classmates to take part, donate what they can and enjoy a day full of festive fun. There are lots of free downloadable resources below to help make your day a success and you can choose to join us on the official day – Thursday 3rd December or choose a date that suits you.
The money you raise will help support people affected by cancer, providing vital services, information and care when they need it most. So, pull on your jolliest jumper, hat or socks, raise a smile and help bring hope to people facing cancer this Christmas.
Why your support matters
It costs more than £2.1m per year to keep four support centres open, where we provide vital support to more than 2,000 people affected by cancer every year.
We receive no government funding and rely wholly on income from our fundraising and retail teams to cover these costs. We rely on the generosity of our local communities to help us continue being there for everyone who needs us.
How to take part
- Sign up, using the button above or below – invite colleagues, friends, family, classmates or your community group to get involved.
- Promote the event – make sure everyone knows the date and how to take part. Use our downloadable resources below along with emails and social media to help spread the word.
- Encourage sustainable participation – by reusing an old jumper, decorating a plain one, swapping with friends or buying from one of Wessex Cancer Support’s charity shops. Find your nearest here: Charity Shops | Wessex Cancer Support
- On the day – Wear a jolly jumper or festive accessory. This could be a Christmas jumper, festive socks or a headband.
- Ask participants for a donation – via the fundraising page we conveniently set up for you.
After your Jolly Jumper Day:
- Share photos on social media – encouraging others to support your fundraiser and tagging Wessex Cancer Support.
- Why not boost your fundraising – by organising a bake sale, Christmas raffle, a sweepstake or a fashion show – with a prize for the best outfit.
- Pay in your donation – ensuring your donation is clearly referenced so it can be linked to your Jolly Jumper Day activity. See how to pay in your fundraising here: How to pay in your donation
- Celebrate your impact – Â knowing the funds raised help support people living with cancer across Hampshire, Dorset, and the Isle of Wight. After paying in your fundraising we will send you a personalised thank you certificate, to share online or print and display.
