It’s our most glamorous event of the year! Forty models, many of whom have been affected by cancer, will strut their stuff at our Sparkle Party at Hedge End’s Ageas Bowl on Thursday 9th November, to empower and support anyone living with the disease.
Introduced by BBC South Presenter, Sam Fraser, the models will be dressed by fashion retailer, Matalan Eastleigh, and cheered on by guests. The event aims to raise awareness of the importance of wellbeing and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer.
After the fashion show, guests can browse a special ‘Sparkle Market’ comprising more than 30 local businesses selling a range of beauty, homeware, food and drink, jewellery and gifts.
Geoffrey Smail received support at our Bournemouth cancer support centre when he had thyroid cancer and is modelling at the event. He says:
“The support I received when I had cancer was truly remarkable and now I’m passionate about encouraging others to find out how the charity can help them at a really difficult time in their lives. Being with others affected by cancer, and supporting them, will be empowering and I’m looking forward to all being together – raising awareness on the runway!”
Sally Hillyear, Wessex Cancer Support’s Director of Fundraising and Marketing, said:
“We can’t wait to welcome our models, guests and supporters to this special showcase of strength and radiance. We’re passionate about empowering anyone affected by cancer and all the money raised will go towards providing free and local wellbeing support to anyone who needs it.”
The event starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 9.30pm. Tickets cost £15 which includes a drink on arrival and a Bradbeers’ Beauty Department goody bag. Fore more information and to book, click here.
