A long-standing volunteer at Wessex Cancer Support’s Bournemouth Centre has received a personal letter from Kensington Palace after writing to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales.
Wendy Kelly, who has volunteered with the charity for ten years, wrote to congratulate The Princess of Wales following Her Royal Highness’s completion of the Three Peaks Challenge. In her letter, Wendy shared details of the vital emotional and practical support provided by Wessex Cancer Support, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.
In response, Kensington Palace sent a letter on behalf of The Princess of Wales, signed by James Dawson, Head of Royal Correspondence, expressing Her Royal Highness’s sincere appreciation for the charity’s work.
“It was greatly heartening to hear of the wonderful support that the four centres provide for patients and their families”
The letter noted:
“It was greatly heartening to hear of the wonderful support that the four centres provide for patients and their families, and I am to pass on The Princess’s sincere appreciation to you and to all of your fellow volunteers and staff who work so hard to provide such valuable support for those impacted by cancer.”
The Palace also confirmed that The Princess sent her “very best wishes to you and to everybody at Wessex Cancer Support.”
“I feel so privileged to volunteer for such an amazing charity”
Speaking about the response, Wendy Kelly said:
“I feel so privileged to volunteer for such an amazing charity. It was wonderful to share the work we do here in Bournemouth with Her Royal Highness and to receive such a thoughtful reply recognising the support our team provides to the local community.”
