Liam, from the Isle of Wight, has raised more than £500 to support local people affected by cancer by abseiling 100 metres down Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower.
He explains what motivated him to sign up:
“During my Mum’s treatment for cancer, I travelled with her to radiotherapy on the mainland. We used the Daisy Bus to get to the hospital. Additionally, Wessex Cancer Support provided some holistic therapies to help ease the side effects of her chemotherapy. It was important for me to give a little back for all the support the charity has provided, and the abseil seemed like a great way for me to do this.”
“I chose the abseil, because I’d seen others take it on, and it seemed like a great experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. After the initial descent, I was in complete control and was able to enjoy the fantastic views on the way down!”
How could you challenge yourself and raise money to support local people affected by cancer?
