Our annual Bournemouth Air Festival hospitality event, sponsored by IT consultancy, QuoStar, raised almost £22,000 this year to support local people affected by cancer.
This year’s event – possibly the last of its kind – took place on Friday 30th August at Key West Restaurant on Bournemouth Pier during the Bournemouth Air Festival. Supported by QuoStar for the tenth year running, the event has raised more than £120,000 in total over the years.

More than 100 guests were welcomed with a Pimm’s on the pier, followed by a three-course lunch and some fundraising games, before enjoying spectacular VIP views of the Air Festival flight displays during the day. They were joined by Jenny Moore, a client of our Bournemouth cancer support centre, who shared how the charity has supported her through her experience of cancer.

Robert Rutherford, CEO at QuoStar, commented: “We are proud to support Wessex Cancer Support for the tenth year running. It’s inspiring to see our community come together to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.”
Jo Merrett, our Head of Philanthropy and Major Partnerships, said:
“It’s a really challenging economic climate for charities at the moment, yet more and more people are being diagnosed with cancer and need our support. We’re delighted to have hosted another magnificent corporate event, bringing together local businesses keen to support Wessex Cancer Support and learn more about the work we do. I’m thrilled the day raised so much money and can’t thank our guests enough for their generosity. We’re also extremely grateful to QuoStar for sponsoring the event and to Key West for providing a perfect location from which to watch the amazing Air Festival displays.
All the money raised for Wessex Cancer Support at the event will be used to provide practical and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
