  • Taking part in bucket collections

  • Attending centre and shop opening, festivals, schools and fundraising events

Skills and Experience

  • Fun and outgoing personality

  • Enjoy meeting new people and be friendly and approachable

  • Good at using own initiative

  • Access to a car or local transport

  • Reliable

  • Have empathy for patients and families affected by cancer

When & Where

Opportunities to volunteer will be on an ad hoc basis throughout the year and are likely to be mainly at weekends. We will give you plenty of notice about upcoming opportunities and will not expect you to be available for all of them.

We know that mascot costumes can be very warms so you will only be expected to wear them for short periods of time at each event. Appearances could be across the Wessex region.

Practical Considerations

  • Be a minimum of 16 years old

  • Height must be between 5ft 6inches and 5ft 10 inches

  • Good level of fitness as mascot costume is quite heavy

  • DBS check is required for this role (generated by Wessex Cancer Trust)

What we Offer

  • Volunteers will be part of our valued community team helping to make a difference to people and families affected by cancer

  • An excellent opportunity to gain experience with the fundraising and marketing team

  • Out of pocket expenses

  • Certificate of volunteering.
