Volunteer Counsellor


The Organisation
Would you like to be part of our supportive and friendly team offering support to people and families living with cancer at one of our local Cancer Support Centres?

Wessex Cancer Trust currently has four Cancer Support Centre’s offering free, non-clinical support to anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer. These include counselling, complementary therapies and health and well-being advice. All of our centres are able to offer this quality support by combining both employed and voluntary teams of dedicated people to deliver this much needed service.

Our Chandler’s Ford Centre is open between 10am – 4pm Monday to Thursday.  If you would like to join our team we are looking for a qualified and experienced Volunteer Counsellor.


Skills and Experience
We would ask that you meet the following requirements to deliver counselling to Wessex Cancer Trust clients. We require you to have:

  • A minimum Level 5 Diploma in Counselling from a recognised body, membership to a recognised body ie, BACP
  • Professional liability insurance.
  • Supervision log in accordance with affiliated body guidelines.

We would also ask that you have some experience of working with client’s experiencing the impact of a cancer diagnosis. 

A Disclosure and Baring Scheme (DBS) check is required for this volunteer role at no cost to the volunteer.


When and Where
Chandler’s Ford Cancer Support Centre, Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford SO53 2GG.

       1 day per week 10-4pm.
