Facebook closed support group
Led by Wessex Cancer Trust staff, volunteers and clients
Cost Free of charge any donations gratefully received
Appropriate for Open to all patients and loved ones
For many people with cancer, connecting with others provides emotional support and inspiration during a challenging time. It can also provide a vital support base for friends, family members and carers.
Joining our online community can make it easier to connect with others from the comfort of your own home. The closed group aims to provide a safe online discussion space for anyone who has been impacted by a cancer diagnosis, who is seeking support and advice. Posts in the group are visible to group members only, not any other Facebook friends.
The group is run and monitored by the Wessex Cancer Trust Services Team and are on hand with any questions you may have.

Relaxation and Meditation

Appropriate for Open to all patients and loved ones
This virtual group is for anyone wishing to take half an hour, or so, for themselves to listen to guided relaxation/meditation. It is for everyone, no experience necessary.
I will help anyone who’s interested to explore their ability to tap into their own vital energy and utilise this ability for relaxation and rejuvenation! There is always the option to just listen. Anyone can give it a try, there’s no pressure to join every session and group chat is kept brief to allow for a relaxing atmosphere. During the guided meditation participants video cams are switched off and microphones muted so that distractions are limited. It’s an informal and friendly atmosphere, often with small group numbers as not everyone can attend each time.
I encourage participants to be somewhere comfortable; this could be laying on a yoga mat, curled up in bed, on the sofa, in an armchair, out in the garden (although it’s a bit chilly for that now!) I encourage plenty of pillows and blankets for comfort and a glass of water nearby.
