This September Wessex Cancer Trust are joining over 180 charities for the annual Remember a Charity Week. Taking place on the 11th - 17th September 2017, the week aims to raise awareness of the importance of leaving a gift to charity in your will.

Charitable legacies are immensely important in enabling Wessex Cancer Trust, and many other UK charities, to continue their amazing work. Three out of four Britons donate to charity on a regular basis, yet only 6% currently leave a gift for charity in their Will. Despite this, gifts in Wills still form the foundation of many British charities, generating almost 2 billion pounds each year. Without this income, many charities would fail to exist and others would have to cut crucial services. If just 4% more people left a gift for charity in their will, an additional one billion pounds could be raised, enabling our Trust and other UK charities to continue to provide fundamental services.

Here at Wessex Trust we rely on your generosity to continue to provide our services and support to local people affected by cancer. We understand that the people you choose to remember in your Will can be a very private affair. For many people, leaving a gift to charity in their Will is a natural extension of the support they have shown during their lifetime.

There are several ways that you can leave a gift, whether its leaving a cash gift, a share of your estate, a gift in trust or a specific gift, there is sure to be something that suits you. Your wishes regarding the use of any gift are very important to us. Our development team can speak to you in confidence about areas of our work you might like to support.

No matter how much money you have, we can all do something amazing for the world by remembering a charity in our Will. Your kindness and generosity could ensure that local people affected by cancer can continue to receive much needed support here at Wessex Cancer Trust.
