We'd love you to spread some New Year cheer and Wear it Bright on Friday 24th January to raise money for our crisis appeal.

We'd love as many people as possible, from school children to office workers, to dig out your sunniest tops, happiest shoes and most vibrant accessories and dress down to brighten up January. We've also put together some other bright ideas to help you raise money on the day, such as baking and selling brightly coloured cakes, guessing the number of coloured sweets in a jar or holding a joke-telling competition.

You can download fundraising ideas, posters, medals and colouring-in sheets from here.

Cait Allen, our CEO, said:

With the festive season over and no sign of Spring in sight, many of us feel a bit glum in January. We want Friday 24th January to be the happiest day of the year! Wear it Bright gives you the opportunity to create colourful communities and spread New Year cheer, as well as raising money to save the local services we provide for anyone living with cancer.

We launched a crisis appeal to raise £600,000 by the end of January or we could be forced to close. We have been supporting local families for almost 40 years but saw a 30% increase in demand for our services in 2019. We have also been hit by a 65% reduction in people leaving a gift in their will and the decline in the high street which has seen our shop sales fall by 15%.

We support around 11,000 people every year through our four cancer Support Centres which provide a drop-in service, professional counselling, complementary therapies, activities, support groups and courses. We also run outreach services, popular Sing for Life choirs and transport on our Daisy Buses to help patients get to their hospital appointments.
