Stories And News Latest News Housebuilder raises £36,500 for us Barratt Developments has donated over £36,500 to us after rounding off 12 months of fundraising for its chosen charity of the year. During 2019, the housebuilder (which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes) took part in a range of events and launched its own initiatives to raise money for local families living with cancer. It entered a team in the Barratt Homes relay marathon in Romsey, hosted bake sales for 'Cakes4Cancer', and held a payday Bingo, Christmas jumper day and garage sale. Most recently it sponsored our first ever Frosty 5K on the Isle of Wight. The company also donated furniture from its show homes to our new cancer support centre on the Isle of Wight. Barratt Developments will continue to support us during 2020 by backing our new ActionMan campaign. The initiative aims to empower more men to be aware of the signs and symptoms of cancer and take action by speaking to their GP if they have any concerns. Barratt Developments Managing Director, Jon Green, said: Cancer affects so many of us in some way, so we're proud to have been fundraising for Wessex Cancer Trust as our charity of the year. We know first-hand the fantastic work its team and volunteers are doing to support local people. Throughout the year, our teams have taken part in brilliant events to raise money to ensure local people continue to get the support they need. Laura Beavis, Wessex Cancer Trust's Marketing Campaigns Manager, said: Barratt Developments recognises how important it is to be there for anyone living with cancer and we're so grateful for their support During 2019 we saw a 30% increase in demand for our services and Barratts' commitment and dedication has been invaluable in helping to ensure we can continue to be there for everyone who needs us.
