Our appeal patron, Harry Redknapp, has met donors, supporters and volunteers from across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight to thank them for working tirelessly to support us following our recent crisis appeal.

The appeal raised £290,000 in eight weeks and we recently announced that, whilst still being in a delicate situation, we feel confident we have a future.

The guests came together at Haskins Garden Centre in Ferndown, a supporter of Wessex Cancer Trust. They included Kristy Hunt from Ryde on the Isle of Wight who has a close family member being supported by us. She organised a charity football match, encouraged a school to take part in a 'Wear it Bright' day and placed multiple collection cans.  Also there were James and Nicky Piper. James is part of The Bubbleheads, a four-man team of deep sea divers who will be rowing the Atlantic for us in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge this December. We are supporting his wife, Nicky, through her cancer diagnosis. They were joined by Danny Jones from Barclays who has raised thousands of pounds by encouraging the Bank's employees to take part in events and will be running the Virgin London Marathon this April.

Plans are afoot for a number of new fundraising and commercial initiatives to ensure the additional money needed is raised over the coming weeks and months.
