Stories And News Latest News Benham Engineering conquer Three Peaks Challenge Last month a group of adventurers climbed the highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland in just 24 hours to raise money to help support local people living with cancer. The team of employees from Benham Precision Engineering braved wind and rain to conquer Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon. Kevin Oborn, one of the team members said: ‘’We allowed 10 hours for the driving, which left 14 hours to complete the three mountains. Many people in our group have been affected by cancer, in their families, loved ones, friends, colleagues, we all have been touched in some way so we really wanted to support their work and raise money for this cause.’’ Despite putting in the hours to prepare for the climb by walking up St Catherine’s Hill in Winchester, the mountains were still a real challenge: ‘’ All of the mountains are difficult in their own right by battling through the driving wind and rain on Ben Nevis was the most punishing! Scarfell Pike was tough after the long drive from Scotland but the weather was kinder there.’’ Finally the sun came out on Snowdon so the team could enjoy completing the climb in the sunshine. The team have been fundraising alongside their training and have raised over £2,000 to support Wessex Cancer Trust. Head of Development, Sofie Bennett said: ‘’ Congratulations to the whole team at Benham Engineering. Fundraising alongside training is no mean feat and we are so grateful for their support. The whole team has worked so hard to fundraise and thank you to the company who helped with the mini bus hire, fuel costs as well as finding the driver Martin Ford who drove 1400 miles over the weekend.’’ There is still to support the team at: https://www.wessexcancer.org.uk/fundraisers/three-peaks-challenge-2017 If you’re company is interested in taking part in an event to raise funds for Wessex Cancer Trust please contact Sofie Bennett at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 023 8067 2200.
