On International Stress Awareness Day, 1st November 2017, we at Wessex Cancer Trust would like to encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the stressful aspects of your life and how they may be affecting you. We know that feelings of stress are common when dealing with a cancer diagnosis and treatment, or when helping a loved one through this difficult time. Because of this, we would like to use this day to remind you to take the time to focus on your mental and emotional well-being, and try to find ways to help manage the stress in your life.

At our six cancer support centres across the Wessex region we can offer you practical and emotional support to help you to deal with the stress that often stems from being affected by cancer. We offer a range of complementary therapies, provided by qualified and experienced professionals, to help you relax and focus on your wellbeing. Among these is reflexology, which aims to encourage healing and relieve stress and tension, and yoga and meditation, which is known to help relieve stress levels and blood pressure.

We also offer massages, which could provide you with a peaceful and relaxing way to feel comfortable and help combat tiredness and stress during a difficult time. The counselling services that we provide could help you to talk through your stressors and find ways of coping with them. Through this your quality of life could improve, enabling you to see a way forward.

Failure to deal with stress effectively can lead to further health problems, so here at Wessex Cancer Trust we would like to encourage you to celebrate this year’s International Stress Awareness Day by looking after yourself and taking the time to consider how you could better manage and relieve the stressful aspects of your life.
