Useful tips: Eat little and often Pace yourself at meal times. Eat slowly and chew your food well to help with digestion Try not to lie down directly after a meal. Sitting for 20 to 30 minutes after a meal may help Avoid bending or lifting immediately after eating Spicy, fried and fatty foods may worsen your symptoms Acidic foods e.g. citrus fruits and juices may increase heartburn Caffeine, alcohol and tobacco may also worsen your heartburn or indigestion Some people find milky drinks or foods may relieve symptoms Avoid drinking large amounts of fluid at meal times – try to take drinks between the meals instead.
