Carol's father had bowel cancer and unfortunately died only 6 months after diagnosis 30 years ago this November. In 2015 her uncle was diagnosed with and treated for two different types of cancer - just over two years after his second surgery, to remove a kidney, he remains cancer free.

Wessex Cancer Trust believes that there should be help and support available to everyone living with cancer, when and where they need it.

They have six cancer support centres, which cover Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and the IOW. Their centres have specialist counsellors to help deal with the emotional impact of cancer and complementary therapies to improve wellbeing, help with pain management and increase self-confidence. The charity also provides a range of support and activity groups along with specialist children’s services and helps 8,000 local people each year.
