June Power My name is June Power and together with three friends we are one of the teams 'walking for hope' to raise funds for the Wessex Cancer Trust in Bournemouth as they have greatly supported my husband, Dave and myself since they opened a local centre here in 2016.

My story...
2014 was a life-changing year; not only did we become grandparents,
but my husband was diagnosed with cancer. He has battled courageously,
had three major bowel and liver operations, but sadly his cancer is terminal.
For now, we take every day as it comes, alongside our wonderful family.

The Wessex Cancer Trust has been a lifeline, offering much-needed support and respite. However, they are a charity, and their work could not continue without donations... so I decided to take the challenge of their organised 10 MILE WALK (gulp!) It would be SO appreciated if you could please sponsor my team as your generosity will help local families, just like ours - you can see where the money is spent by visiting: https://www.wessexcancer.org.uk/impact-report-overview

My "team"...
Lesley Corner and Liz Symes are friends who were quick to respond to my Facebook request to make up a team of 4. As well as wanting to help such a worthy cause and show support of Dave and I, they are also fundraising in memory of their dear Mums who died from cancer.
Liz Halsall and I have been close friends for over 25 years. Liz says: "As soon as I knew June was doing this challenge I thought... at last, here is something I can physically do to show my support after seeing not only what Dave has been through over the last four years... but also his wonderful wife and family by his side. The picture on this page is of June and Dave holding hands on holiday in 2010. On 10 June 2018 we will carry this image with us as we walk in friendship and hope."

The team members have paid for their entry fees themselves so ALL of your donations go directly to the Wessex Cancer Trust's Bournemouth Centre to continue their valuable work, which includes counselling, therapies, support groups and transport services.

Wessex Cancer Trust believes that there should be help and support available to everyone living with cancer, when and where they need it.

Thank you, June Power.
