All of our Support Centres have a Drop-in Service which is the perfect introduction to your journey with Wessex Cancer Trust.

At your local Support Centre you will be warmly welcomed by our volunteer befrienders. All of our volunteers are trained to listen in a non-judgemental way and give you that much needed space to talk about your concerns and needs.

You can discuss your situation, medical treatment and any particular concerns you may have, as well as finding out which therapies and services will be most beneficial to you. Together, you will work out the best possible support for you and book you in for your first session.

We don’t just help those who have been diagnosed; we also provide support for family members so they can join you on your first visit or any future visit.

We also provide many informative leaflets that you can take away to read in your own time.

Mandy's Story

‘’Last year in June I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, which means it had gone from my breast to my bones. When I found out it was cancer, I was really scared and was given some information on Wessex Cancer Support Centre in Cosham.

I left the leaflet on the kitchen table for two weeks, then one day when I was feeling very low I thought I would call to find out more. Then I actually went in and spoke to a lovely bunch of people. They were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. They told me about the therapies that were on offer and that I could come in any time for coffee and a chat, and to be quite honest I have never looked back.

The Cancer Support Centre is an amazing and very helpful place for me, and without them I don't know what I would do. I have made really nice friends since using the service and I would recommend the centre to anyone with cancer and those who are affected by this terrible disease.’’
