World Cancer Day is an international campaign taking place on 4 February each year and supported by cancer charities worldwide. It aims to raise awareness of cancer and inspire individuals, communities and governments to take action against the disease. This year also marks the start of Wessex Cancer Trust’s 40th Birthday year celebrations.
Typically, on this day we would ask local towns and cities to light-up their landmark buildings to help to bring attention to World Cancer Day. A symbolic act of hope and inspiration, but this has not been possible this year due to Covid restrictions, so we call upon the Wessex community to add light and hope to those affected by cancer.
Show your love and support for the Wessex community, your way. Light a birthday candle on its own, in a cake, or mini cupcake or use whatever fruit or food you have to hand! Share your candle photos using the hashtag #40YearsWessex and tag Wessex Cancer Trust.
Light a birthday candle at 7 pm on February 4th – unite and show solidarity with everyone whose life has been affected by cancer.
