Isla and Lucy, two pupils at Wildern School in Hedge End have won a competition to design our 2021 Christmas e-card.
Pupils at the school unanimously voted us as their Charity of the Year. The Christmas card competition kicks off a year of fundraising activities, which will also include Acts of Kindness and non-uniform days.
Mrs Yates, Wildern School’s charity and community co-ordinator who ran the competition, said it was a poignant activity:
“Sometimes we think of cancer only affecting older people, but everyone can be touched by it, including children, so as a school we wanted to raise awareness of the support Wessex Cancer Trust can provide to anyone in our local community.”
Our Corporate and Community Fundraiser, Sarah King, and Anthony Fanshawe from our Business Development Group, visited the school to present Isla and Lucy with a £25 Hobbycraft voucher. She said:
“Living with cancer can be really tough for the whole family, so being able to partner with a local school is great way to help raise awareness of the free support we can provide. We also wanted to help spread some festive cheer, and thought who better than a young person to design a card we can send to our supporters.”
Thank you for choosing to support local people living with cancer, Wildern School!
