Thank you

Thursday 1st July was a big day for us as we officially celebrated 40 years of providing vital services for local people living with cancer. Of course, we can’t do this alone and so here we say thank you to some of our supporters who have been by our side and raising money this year so we can grow our income and support even more people who need us.

Here are some of their fantastic and varied endeavours:

He's out!

Eighty-eight year old daredevil, Robin Long, fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he skydived 15,000ft. He’s raised almost £4,000.

Diane Cutler

Diane is the Chair of our Board of Trustees. She decided to take on a 40K cycle challenge with a pledge to secure 81 sponsors (as we were formed in 1981!). She was a bit let down by her bike when she got a flat tyre at 14k but her support rider (aka her husband!) came to her rescue and took over her bike so he could keep stopping to pump up the tyre – while she sped off on his much quicker (but much less comfy) bike. She’s raised more than £2,000.

Beverley Craven

300 guests headed to Hambledon Vineyard in Waterlooville for the Music & Fizz concert headlined by BRIT award-winning singer songwriter, Beverley Craven. Beverley was supported on stage by Josie Florence, saxophonist Frank Mead and the Isle of Wight Youth Jazz Orchestra. The concert has raised £10,000 which will be split between us and Rowans Hospice.

Twyford School

Staff at the Winchester-based Twyford school challenged themselves to a non-stop, 24 hour ‘moveathon’ and have raised almost £5,000.

Reniera O'Donnell

Reniera O’Donnell has raised £1,600 by taking on Challenge the Wight – a 26-mile run across the Isle of Wight. She wanted to support Wessex Cancer Support after using our Daisy Bus to get to her radiotherapy appointments in Portsmouth.
