Tenor and soprano crossover group, ‘Tesoro’, comprising Simon Long and Karen Barnett, together with supporting choirs, is performing a music concert at The Abbey United Reformed Church, Romsey, at 7pm on Thursday 31st March. All proceeds from the evening will go to Wessex Cancer Trust.
Tesoro will be performing a range of uplifting classical songs and timeless favourites from popular artists, movies, opera and musicals. The duo will be supported by Fine Voices Academy Chorus and Quay of Sea Voices choir.
The performers have a long-standing connection to Wessex Cancer Trust. During the evening, a number of the songs will be dedicated to loved ones supported by us. Quay of Sea Voices, one of Tesoro’s supporting choirs, was established ten years ago for those experiencing cancer themselves or supporting someone close to them.
Yvonne, one of the founding members of the choir, has lived with cancer since she was first diagnosed at nine years old. She was later diagnosed with ovarian cancer and very sadly lost her daughter, Kelly, to breast cancer. Yvonne says:
“I’ve found friendship, learned new skills, taken part in events and had experiences I’d never dreamt of since joining the choir. It’s also given me a dramatic boost to my overall health and wellbeing.” She is often described as an inspiration to other choir members and the audiences who hear her sing.
Wessex Cancer Trust runs choirs, called Sing for Life, which are fun and informal with no pressure to perform. You can find out more here.
This will be a wonderful and uplifting evening of live music to raise money for local people living with cancer. For more information, email email@example.com or click here to see their website.
