We’re looking for 25 daredevils to take to the sky this summer and drop 10,000ft to raise money for Islanders affected by cancer.
We’ve teamed up with Skydive IOW and Sandown Airport to offer an experience-of-a-lifetime tandem skydive on Wednesday 9th August. No training is required – you just need a sense of adventure and nerves of steel. You’ll be given a full safety briefing before being strapped in and taken up in the plane. You’ll then freefall for 30 seconds before your parachute opens and you enjoy a five-minute ride across the Isle of Wight coastline with beautiful views of Southampton, Portsmouth and the coast beyond.
There’s a registration fee of £50 and you’ll need to raise sponsorship of £550. All skydivers will receive a t-shirt!
Darren, from Sandown, skydived in 2022:
“My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago and we used the Daisy Bus to get from the Red Jet to her hospital appointment every day for five weeks. It was a simple thing, but something that made our lives easier at a very difficult time. In my community and circle of friends, more and more people are being diagnosed with cancer and we need Wessex Cancer Support to be able to help them now and in the future. It’s my 50th birthday this year and the skydive felt like a fantastic challenge to mark it, and it’s also a way for me to give back to the charity that helped us so much.”
