Our Daisy Bus is operating as usual

Hovertravel and Wessex Cancer Support are working together to reassure people travelling from the Isle of Wight for cancer appointments at hospital that our Daisy Bus is still providing transport to and from Hovertravel’s Southsea terminal.

Colette Cowan, our Head of Service delivery, explains:

“We’re seeing lower numbers of cancer patients travelling, but our service continues for those who need it. Our drivers are friendly and understanding of people’s concerns and would be glad to welcome more patients should they need it in the coming weeks.

Our Daisy Bus is available in Portsmouth and Southampton and extra precautions have been put in place to ensure journeys are as low risk as possible. There is no need to book. The driver and bus meets patients at the Hovertravel terminal for transport to the hospital and back again.”

Loretta Lale, Head of Commercial at Hovertravel, adds:

“We have seen the national trend of cancer patients travelling less for treatment due to the COVID-19 crisis and wanted to make sure that Isle of Wight residents know they can safely travel safely and meet up with the Daisy Bus in Southsea. We included both Wessex Cancer Support and someone currently receiving treatment for cancer in our recent Hovertravel Users Group Zoom meeting.”
