Plans to open our new cancer support centre in Boscombe, Bournemouth in summer 2025 have been unveiled at a drop-in event held recently.  Therapy and counselling rooms, an activity studio and office space will be incorporated at the Christchurch Road premises.

“We’ve had a centre in Bournemouth for nearly ten years but we have outgrown our current site,” said Rachel Billsberry-Grass, Wessex Cancer Support CEO.

“The demand for our services continues to grow and this new centre will enable us to better serve our Bournemouth and Dorset communities.   We’ll be in a busy area of Boscombe, so anyone who walks past will know our services are for them.”

The charity has launched a £150,000 fundraising appeal to refurbish the site and cover running costs for the first year.

Work will start imminently and it’s hoped the centre will open this summer.

Bournemouth East MP Tom Hayes was among the visitors at the drop-in event and has offered his support. “It was a pleasure to attend the open evening of Wessex Cancer Support’s new centre in Boscombe,” said Mr Hayes.

“It will make an enormous difference to people navigating cancer – offering a safe, welcoming space and the kind of compassionate care that helps people feel less alone.  I’m looking forward to visiting the centre once it’s in full swing, supporting people locally.”
