All of us at Wessex Cancer Support are rooting for four deep sea divers known as The Bubbleheads – Chris, Andy, Lewis and James, as they prepare to take on the world’s toughest row, the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge – an epic 3000-mile rowing race across the Atlantic.
Currently, the team is in full race preparation mode. They’ve got two weeks of race checks, inspections and final preparations before they board their ocean rowing board on 12th December and attempt to race unaided from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean to raise money for local people living with cancer.
We’re a charity close to James’ heart, as we supported James and his wife Nikki, when Nikki was diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, Nikki died in 2020 aged 37. Read our interview with the team here
-The race start will be filmed ‘live’ on Facebook by Atlantic Campaigns. If you have your notifications on for the page, they’ll be able to see the most-up-to-date race information
-You can monitor their progress via the YB Races app. If you download it to your phone, you can add the TWAC 2021 race to your feed. It’ll be updated every four hours throughout the race
-The Bubbleheads’ friends and family will be updating their Facebook and Instagram accounts – just search for The Bubbleheads
-Make a donation via their Just Giving page
If you’d like any other information during the race, please email the land team at info@thebubbleheads.co.uk
