We’re looking for volunteers to support our free cancer wellbeing sessions at the Wellington Centre (Purple Oak Support) in Andover.
We’re looking for people to be befrienders at the sessions which run every Tuesday between 11am and 2pm. Befrienders are trained and caring listeners for anyone affected by cancer who may appreciate talking or having non-judgemental company through difficult or confusing thoughts and feelings. Those dropping in at the sessions may have cancer themselves, be supporting someone with cancer or be bereaved.
Colette Cowan, our Head of Services, says:
“Our volunteers are invaluable and at the heart of what we do to support local people affected by cancer. If you feel you’re compassionate and a good listener, we’d really love to hear from you. We’ll give you full training and support and we only need a few hours of your time each week. Volunteering is incredibly rewarding, providing opportunities to support others and meet new people. We’d be so grateful if you could use your skills to help make a difference in Andover.”
The sessions are held at the Wellington Centre, 3 Winchester Road, Andover, SP10 2EG. If you’d like to find out more about volunteering, please contact Katie Davies, Outreach Project Manager on 023 8067 2200.
