Simplify Consulting's charity golf day has raised a record figure for us. The annual event, which is in its fifth year, took place at Dudsbury golf course in Ferndown and attracted 172 golfers, smashing its charitable target by raising an incredible £15,500.

Simplify Directors Kate Monserrate and Carl Woodward, said:

We are blown away by the success of our event and the level of participation it attracted. It has become an important fixture in the Simplify calendar and the growth and support we've received over the years has been phenomenal. We are hugely grateful to everyone involved, including players, sponsors and a brilliant team of volunteers. We were very honoured to have the charity auction ably hosted by Paul Coyte of Tottenham Hotspur and TalkSport2, and Spurs footballing legend Micky Hazard. As big Spurs fans, we were delighted to have their involvement and commitment to our fundraising. Their humour certainly made it fun, too!

Kate continued:

I've had a challenging year, following treatment for breast cancer. Thankfully, I've been given the all clear but I know and appreciate only too well the amazing work that Wessex Cancer Trust does. It's fantastic to be able to support this local charity in the work they do helping people living with cancer, and their families too.

Maria Tidy, Wessex Cancer Trust's Community Engagement Manager, said:

We're totally thrilled at the amount raised! It will make a massive difference to local people living with cancer. It's been an absolutely fantastic day - so well organised and it's great to be involved. I'd like to pay a special thanks to the committed team of volunteers who have helped out today.

Neil Dallyn of returning event headline sponsors, Rodford Engineering, commented:

It's been an excellent day; great golf, great weather and lots of superb generosity demonstrated by all.

After her year of cancer treatment, Kate Monserrate set up a website called, to support women living with breast cancer. The site provides practical hints and tips to help make treatment and recovery more bearable.
