Shockingly, 200,000 men are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK and many more are affected by their partners receiving a devastating diagnosis.

At the core of Round Table is a determination to go the extra mile for friends, family and the community, so when Wessex Cancer Trust told them about their mission to support more men in 2017 they were keen to get involved. In partnership, Wessex Cancer Trust and the Winchester Round Table have launched a brand new community based support group, exclusively for men.

Wessex Cancer Trust know that men are often less likely to reach out for support, which can have a huge impact on themselves and those close to them.

Sessions will provide an opportunity to talk to other people who are in a similar situation and to share experiences. The group will offer a confidential space to express concerns that men might not want to share with friends and family.

Another goal of the partnership with Winchester Round Table is to raise more awareness about male cancer and aim to remove the stigma around talking openly. Many men feel embarrassed about seeking medical help and, as a result, more lives are taken. They hope that by uniting, MAN talk will make more men aware of the early signs and take action sooner.

The group will meet at Friends House, Winchester on the first Tuesday of each month from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.

If you or someone you know could benefit from attending the male only support group, please contact wct@wessexcancer.org.uk or call 023 8067 2200.
