During the summer of 2016, we launched a competition for school children to design our new mascot.

We had over 200 entries! Once we had picked out the 5 finalists, it was then down to the public vote. After three weeks of voting and 600 votes, we finally had our winner. Wolly!

Wolly will be joining us at future fundraising events, making a real difference in raising awareness and funds to support local people affected by cancer.

Wolly’s designer, Emily age 12, decided to get creative to boosted her chances at getting her mascot to win. She put up posters and flyer-ed at her school show.

We asked Emily why she chose a lion as the mascot:

“I wanted to use the bravest animal, because people who face cancer are the bravest people”.

As a thank you, we will be giving Emily and her family a free day out at Paultons Park.

It will take 12 weeks to build Wolly, and we’ll be keep you up to date with the process. Use the hashtag #WessexWolly to hear how he’s getting on.
