The Walk for Hope challenge is fast approaching, taking place on the 4th June 2017 in the beautiful New Forest. Thanks to advances in cancer prevention, early detection and treatment, more people than ever before are surviving the disease and our Walk for Hope will be celebrating this achievement. However, until there is a day when everyone wins, there is still much more to do. So we need you to brush off your walking boots and show cancer who’s boss!

Many celebrities are already backing this brand new event. This includes comedian Peter Kay, South Today presenter Laura Trant, ex-footballer Harry Redknapp and Masterchef winner Jane Devonshire.

Along with excellent company, participants will receive a t-shirt and medal and will enjoy a festival at the finish line with their family and friends. Above all, participants will have the satisfaction of raising money for an important cause.

Regional Fundraising Manager, Dawn Ingram, believes that the walk for hope is vital in raising spirits for those affected by cancer, commenting that “with more people than ever before surviving cancer, we wanted to create an experience where the local people show that united we are stronger than cancer”.

Jackie has already signed up and is embracing the meaning of the event.

She says, “I’m walking for all the people in my life that I’ve lost to cancer. The Walk for Hope is a day of remembrance and honouring their lives. However, I also want to celebrate all the people who have overcome cancer and the wonderful work that Wessex Cancer Trust does. Walking with my daughter will be great fun too!”
