I am Geraldine Brown and I work one day a week at the Bournemouth Support Centre as a Complementary Therapist, offering Reiki and Reflexology treatments.

I have been working as a fully qualified therapist for the last seven years and as a Reiki Master for the last four years, having decided to retrain when my son started school. It is quite simply the best career move I have ever made. I love my work.

Initially, I started at the Centre as a volunteer offering two treatments a week, but when the opportunity arose to cover another therapist’s maternity leave I jumped at the chance.

Like so many, I too know and love those living with cancer, which is why I wanted to specialise in working to support and care for them. I am always struck by the level of trust my clients place in me, either through the very personal information they share or as they lie on my treatment couch, relaxing deeply and beginning the journey to re-balancing their health and well-being.

I love my Thursdays at the Centre. Naturally, there are times when I am working with clients who are struggling with their illness, their emotions or their situation, but more often than not the Centre is filled with smiles, laughter, compassion, kindness and a wonderful sense of support amongst our clients……oh and a considerable amount of cake! I’ve never seen so much cake.

Is it any wonder that I love what I do and the people I work with? I wonder how many people feel the same way about their work.
